Sprint Car Racing

Being one of the most popular and fastest growing motor sports in America, Sprint car racing involves a lot of emotions and as such it needs a high degree of sportsmanship and due respect for all those connected with it including all officials, drivers, owners and the pit crews.

Sprint cars are unique vehicles with big wings on top of them so that the cars remain firmly on the racetrack and do not flip. Sprint car racing started in the beginning of the 20th century and it is typically an American type of sport. It was initially held at fairground horse tracks and even today it is popularly held there.

Sprint car racing is an extremely popular and exciting sport and it is prevalent at a number of dirt ovals in the US, especially in Central Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Texas, most parts of the Midwest and in the entire region of California. However, in New England and the Carolinas, people prefer stock car racing.

The excitement of Sprint car racing is not limited to fast speeds of more than 160mph on dirt surfaces but it is also characterized by unfortunate but spectacular collisions and crashes. Road courses paved with asphalt are used for sprint racing and the lengths of these courses vary from 3/8 mile to one mile. These tracks can be considered to be miniature versions of bigger road courses as a go-kart is a smaller type of a racecar.
